What a free Muslim marriage app actually costs

Every app in this category calls itself free. The word is doing different jobs in each case, and the difference is worth two minutes of your attention before you give any of them two months of your search.
There are three pricing models on the market, and "free" appears in all three descriptions.
The three things "free" means
- Free to enter, paid to function. The profile costs nothing; the things that make the search work — seeing who liked you, more than a handful of likes a day, filters that matter — sit behind a subscription. Most of the big apps work this way, and to be fair about it, the free core of Muzz is genuinely usable: matching, chatting and the chaperone mode cost nothing there.
- Free trial, then a wall. Common among the matrimonial sites: browsing is free, contacting anyone is not. The "free" is a shop window.
- Free until you succeed. Nothing to pay while you search, however long it takes. The platform earns only when a real connection happens. This is Misaq's model, and as far as we know we are the only ones committed to it in writing.
Why the model matters more than the price
The question to ask of any app is not "what does it cost?" but "when does it get paid?" — because that is the direction the product will be built in.
A subscription app earns while you are looking and stops earning the day you succeed. Nobody there is twirling a moustache; it is simply what the revenue line rewards, and features follow revenue. Endless feeds, daily like limits that reset tomorrow, "see who liked you" held just out of reach — each one is a reason to stay subscribed, and each is working against the thing you came for.
A platform paid on success has the opposite incentive: get you matched well and get out of your way. One compatible match at a time is not a limitation of that model, it is the point of it.
What "free until a real connection" means, literally
- No subscription. Not monthly, not annual, not a premium tier with the real features in it.
- Verification, matching and the wali dashboard all included from the start — these are the product, not upsells.
- You pay only when a real connection happens, and the pricing promise on every Misaq surface is required to honour that sentence literally. No asterisks is a rule we hold ourselves to in writing.
One caveat we owe you: Misaq has not launched yet. The pledge above is the model the product is built on, and the waitlist is how you hold us to it.
How to audit any "free" app in five minutes
- Send a message to a match without paying? If not, it is a free shop window, not a free app.
- See who has shown interest without paying? This is the single most common paywall in the category.
- Daily like limit that a payment removes? That is a metered product, which is fine — but it is not free.
- Does the price appear only after you have built a profile? A model that hides its price until you are invested is telling you something.
- Is the family feature free? Charging for the wali's access would say everything about where the family ranks.
Where Misaq stands
The wali registers before matching begins and has their own dashboard. Every member is verified with government ID and a live selfie. One compatible match at a time, no feed. Free until a real connection happens — that is the whole pricing page. The app opens to the waitlist first.

Common questions
Is there a completely free Muslim marriage app?
Several apps have genuinely usable free tiers — Muzz's core matching, chat and chaperone mode cost nothing. Fully free with no paid tier is rare. Misaq's model is different again: nothing to pay while you search, with the platform earning only when a real connection happens. It has not launched yet.
Is Muzz actually free?
The core is: profile, matching, chatting and the chaperone feature. Daily like limits, seeing who liked you, filters and boosts sit behind the Gold and Platinum subscriptions.
Why do marriage apps charge monthly?
Because it is the standard software business model. The difficulty in this category is that a subscription earns while you search and stops when you succeed, so the incentive points away from the outcome you are paying for.
What does "free until a real connection" mean on Misaq?
No subscription of any kind while you search. Verification, matching and the wali dashboard included from the start. Payment only when a real connection happens, with the promise required to be honoured literally on every surface.
